Technology Overview:
Ydro Process
®

The name Ydro (Eye - Droh) originates from the ancient Greek work, ῠ̔́δωρ” (ýdor), which translates to water. TradeWorks offers solutions for both wastewater and organic waste treatment. However, the technology was originally developed in Greece by Hydrotech Environmental, a company with more than 40 years of experience in design, construction and operation of industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants. The name symbolizes the technology’s roots in water resource stewardship.

OUR SOLUTIONS INCLUDE

Yrdo Process Microorganisms

Ydro Process® Microorganisms

The technology underpinning all of our offerings is the Ydro Process® microorganisms, which are available in more than 25 formulations designed to achieve specific biological treatment objectives. The Ydro Process® microorganisms utilize specific metabolic pathways which allow for greater degradation of organics and optimization of the existing microbial community.

The degradation of complex organic molecules, oils and greases leads to the production of Volatile Fatty Acids (VFAs), such as Acetic, Butyric, Propionic Acid, etc. The VFAs are then easily converted to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) in aerobic conditions, or methane (CH4) and hydrogen (H2) in anaerobic conditions, yielding greater energy production potential.

The breakdown and molecular destruction occur up to 80% of the total biomass through the metabolic pathway called Catabolism. Only 20% of the total biomass is utilized for the synthesis of new bacteria.

HOW IT WORKS

Biological Reactions in an Anaerobic/Facultative Environment

How It Works-YRDO Process.jpg

The Ydro Process® microorganisms require less oxygen supply as the Ammonia (NH4+) is converted to Nitrites (NO2-) and then Nitrogen (N2) without first being converted to Nitrates (NO3-) where the largest consumption of oxygen occurs depending on operational conditions.

Yrdo Process

Ydro Process®

The Ydro Process® combines the Ydro Process® microorganisms with analytics and technical support to optimize biological treatment systems. This analytics-based approach allows each solution to be tailored for unique site conditions and multi-objective treatment needs.

The Ydro Process® enables the continuous adaptation of the selected microbial population to the local operating (wastewater plant) conditions and parameters according to target objectives. The added microbial community produces enzymes that enhance the biological process by adapting and assimilating to the existing biomass.

Analytics are a key differentiator of our offering, and it is why the Ydro Process® can be applied to enhance any biological treatment system. A wide range of performance improvements can be achieved by selecting for the biological function(s) required to meet unique treatment goals. Our team of experts serves as an extension of staff to inform decisions through the analytics we provide.

Ydro Process® Benefits:

  • Reduction/minimization of odors, H2S and associated issues in collection system

  • Degradation of Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) and prevention of FOG buildup

  • Reduction in organic loading of domestic wastewater plants

  • Improvement of effluent TSS, COD, BOD, TN, TP

  • Optimization of the overall wastewater and organic waste treatment process

  • Enhancement of biological nutrient removal processes

  • Enhanced efficiency and performance of composting systems

PRIME SCREEN

PRIME SCREEN

The PRIME SCREEN™ system combines a fine screen at the headworks with the addition of specialized Ydro Process® microorganisms in the collection system. It is applicable for all types of wastewater and stormwater treatment systems, especially those lacking primary treatment, membrane-based systems, lagoon-based systems and systems in need of additional capacity.
